1. What are the annual volumes of silk and cocoons produced from silkworms in the EU?
2. In the Commission’s opinion, is silk produced from silkworm cocoons eligible for protection as a product with a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) or Protected Geographical Indication (PGI)?
3. If so, should it become a protected product:
- —In Class 1.4. ‘Other products of animal origin (eggs, honey, various dairy products except butter, etc.)’, under Regulation (EU) No 1151/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council, or
- —In Class 1.8. ‘Other products of Annex I to the Treaty (spices etc.)’?
