Ivan Štefanec (PPE)
In the Bratislava district of Vrakuňa, there is extensive contamination of groundwater with the chemical Desphenyl Chloridazon, which was released from the landfill site of a former chemical plant and which poses a threat to human health. According to Slovakia’s Ministry of Environment, it would cost up to EUR 33 million to eradicate it.
Could the Commission say:
- 1.In the past, did discussions take place between the Government of the Slovak Republic and the Commission on possibly co-financing the elimination of this environmental burden using European Union funds?
- 2.What is the maximum amount that could be provided for this type of activity from EU funds?
- 3.What was the highest amount ever provided to remediate this type of environmental burden?
