Volunteer tutors for unaccompanied refugee children

Question for written answer E-005703-17
to the Commission
Rule 130
Doru-Claudian Frunzulică (S&D)

According to several NGOs, more than 300 000 unaccompanied child refugees, in general orphans, have arrived in host countries, but many countries do not track the total numbers.

While some countries have already initiated projects, others have even passed laws on protection measures that involve matching a volunteer tutor up with each unaccompanied child and/or adult refugee and setting up a meeting schedule. In this way, lifesaving assistance, protection for refugee minors and the promotion of solutions to the displacement crisis are being provided.

How does the Commission intend to become involved in the development and implementation of this plan to help unaccompanied refugee children?
