Carillion

Question for written answer E-000295-18
to the Commission
Rule 130
Catherine Stihler (S&D)

Can the Commission update Parliament on what action it will take on today’s news that the UK Government knowingly granted public contracts to Carillion, a company it knew was in financial trouble and which today went into receivership resulting in British taxpayers having to pick up the bill?

Have EU procurement rules been broken and, if so, what action can be taken against the UK Government to protect the UK taxpayer?
