In 2015 the Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship, Dimitris Avramopoulos, said that the future ‘ageing’ of Europe meant that ‘in the next two decades […], more than 70 million migrants will be needed’ in the EU[1].

1. What amounts has the Commission put towards achieving this objective since making his statement?

2. To which countries does the Commissioner intend to encourage people to migrate?

3. In which areas does the Commission plan to invest in order to ensure the necessary integration?
