Last Tuesday, 6 February 2018, there was an earthquake measuring 3.2 on the Richter scale in the town of La Alberca de Záncara in Cuenca.

The epicentre was located just over 39 kilometres from Villar de Cañas which has been designated by the Government of Spain for the high-level radioactive waste management (ATC in Spanish) project for nuclear waste.

In the last eight months there have been three earthquakes with similar characteristics in the same geographical area. At the same time, there are technical reports that discourage the installation of the high-level radioactive waste management centre for nuclear waste in that area.

In the case of the storage of nuclear waste, does the Commission believe that a high-level radioactive waste management centre should be built in an area with constant seismic movements?
