Rights of EU citizens post-Brexit
19.2.2018
Question for written answer E-000981-18
to the Commission
Rule 130

Theresa May, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, has declared that EU citizens arriving in the UK after Brexit will not enjoy the same rights as those arriving before the cut-off date.
This is in stark contrast to the EU’s pledge to protect the rights of citizens until December 2020.
In light of this:
- 1.Is the EU planning further talks with Prime Minister May on these issues following her announcement?
- 2.Does the EU have a contingency plan for EU citizens who move to the UK during the transition period, such as EU students who move to the UK for their studies during this time?
