According to test results gathered by the European Chemicals Agency on the presence of dangerous substances in various common consumer products, 18% of these products are non-compliant. Toys were particularly affected, and 20% of the toys tested contained phthalates, which are recognised endocrine disruptors.
Article 169(1) TFEU commits the EU to promoting the interests of consumers and to guaranteeing them a high level of protection.
1. What measures does the Commission intend to take in light of the results gathered by the European Chemicals Agency?
2. In particular, what measures does the Commission intend to adopt regarding the presence of phthalates in toys?
