On 8 December 2017, negotiations between the European Union and Japan were finalised, which resulted in the signing of the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA). This agreement represents the largest and most comprehensive economic agreement ever concluded by both the EU and Tokyo. The agreement is intended to establish an economic zone that will comprise 600 million people and around 30% of global GDP.
In view of this:
- 1.What values and significance, aside from in strategic and economic terms, does the conclusion of the EU-Japan Agreement bring to the global economy?
- 2.In the Commission’s opinion, does the EU-Japan Agreement pose any risks, and if so, what kind of risks?
- 3.In the Commission’s opinion, will this agreement have a significant impact on creating new jobs, while maintaining the highest standards of work, safety and environmental and consumer protection?
