EU support for combating domestic violence and the principle of non-discrimination

European treaties affirm the principle of equality and non-discrimination on grounds of sex. Furthermore, the Declaration on Article 8 TFEU states that the EU ‘will aim in its different policies to combat all kinds of domestic violence’.

Moreover, international studies, including some funded by the European Commission, such as the DoVE project, show that men and women experience domestic violence both as victims and as perpetrators, with few significant differences by gender.

Does the Commission have data on the total budget, broken down by recipient countries, dedicated to combating domestic and gender-based violence in the EU since 2005?

Does the Commission realise that programmes combating domestic and gender-based violence in Europe, such as Daphne III, do not currently recognise adult male victims, and is it considering any action to recognise them in future?
