Directive amending Directive 96/71/EC — posting of workers

On 29 May 2018, Parliament voted in plenary to adopt a text amending Directive 96/71/EC on the posting of workers in the framework of the provision of services.

The text was also formally adopted by the EPSCO Council on 21 June 2018. That means that the revised directive will enter into force in mid-2020. In connection with the above, I would like to ask the Commission about the interpretation of the prevision on long-term posting.

When working on the text, the legislators pointed out that the calculation of the period of posting of an employee should be restricted to the duration of a particular contract to provide services, but that idea was not clearly set out in the directive. In connection with the above, and on behalf of employers, I would like to ask the Commission:
