Sturgeon is on the ‘red list’ of endangered species. Caviar should therefore be harvested only from farmed stock.

Poland is the fourth biggest producer of caviar in the world, and it strictly adheres to the very highest farming standards.

Is the Commission planning to take urgent action to protect the caviar production market, in particular by banning imports from countries where caviar is harvested from fish that are not farmed in a sustainable way, and which therefore pose a direct risk to the protection of this valuable species?
