Assessment of the Lazio Region's use of structural funds and RDP funds in 2000‑06 and 2007‑13

Can the Commission furnish an assessment of the use made by the Lazio Region, as the managing authority, of the structural funds it has received since 2005, the year in which the current regional government took office? Is it also able to furnish an assessment of the ongoing programming and the use made of funds for the new 2007‑13 programming period? Have any delays or other problems been reported in the current programming phase or in the use of the funds that could have been caused by the region losing unused funds? Furthermore, can the Commission compare the programming and use of the structural funds managed by the previous regional government (2000‑05) with that of the regional government elected in 2005 and still in office?

Specifically, in light of the Commission’s recent decisions to amend the EU regulations on structural funds and the European recovery plan so that the construction and social housing sectors are given priority under the structural funds, is the Commission able to assess whether the Lazio Region has indeed allocated part of its structural funds to this priority sector as requested/suggested by the Commission? In the Lazio Region, and in Rome in particular, social housing is a real problem and special funding is needed to be able to increase the social housing stock. Is the Commission able to assess whether, in its management of the funds, the Region is observing this priority?

Can the Commission also furnish a similar assessment, covering the same reference periods, of the Lazio Region’s management and implementation of the rural development programme?
