State of implementation of the Fruit School Scheme

WRITTEN QUESTION P-2803/10
by George Becali (NI)
to the Commission

The EU's Fruit School Scheme, as conceived and adopted by Parliament, should have become operative with the 2009‑10 school year. The scheme has been proposed by the Commission on health grounds, and, in addition, has been designed to impact on the stabilisation of the EU market in fruit and vegetables, which is an important factor in combating the crisis.

Can the Commission provide information on the state of implementation of the Fruit School Scheme in the Member States and state whether the funding earmarked for it in the 2010 budget is sufficient and will be utilised?
