Gender ideology: activities of the Italian Presidency of the Council

Question for written answer P-006401-14
to the Council
Rule 130
Beatrix von Storch (ECR)

The Italian Presidency of the Council has announced eight official events on the theme of ‘gender’ in the second half of 2014. The main topics to be covered include ‘gender quotas for supervisory boards’ and ‘gendering cities’, both to be dealt with at one-day events (information as at 19 June 2014). However, in its answer to Question P-006182/2013, the Commission noted that the word ‘gender’ does not appear in the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union and that there is therefore no legal basis for this as an element of Community policy.

On what scientific definition of the word ‘gender’ is the Council Presidency basing its gender events?

What legal basis in the Treaty on European Union is the Council Presidency taking as the justification for its gender events?

How much budget funding is being allocated to each event (please list by title and budget heading)?
