Question for written answer P-008043-14
to the Commission
Rule 130
Bill Etheridge (EFDD)
A British politician has called for measures including the fingerprinting of migrants, restrictions on migrants’ entitlements to benefits, and fast-track deportation of criminals of EU origin on a first offence[1].
Can the Commission state whether any of the following proposed measures would or would not be legal under EU, international and/or Member State law (this would include organisations to which the EU, and by extension its Member States, are signatory):
- 1.fingerprint checks for migrants;
- 2.preventing an EU citizen from claiming any benefit to which UK citizens are entitled, such as child benefit, even when payment is then made outside of the UK;
- 3.easing of laws to make it easier to deport criminals from another EU Member State for their first offence?
