Question for written answer
to the Commission
Rule 130
David Campbell Bannerman (ECR)

Subject:  Article 20a(2) of Directive 94/62/EC

Article 20a(2) of Directive 94/62/EC (as amended by Directive (EU) 2015/720 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 29 April 2015) provides that ‘the Commission shall present a report to the European Parliament and to the Council, examining the impact of the use of oxo-degradable plastic carrier bags on the environment and present a legislative proposal, if appropriate’.

My constituents include a British company, Symphony Environmental Technologies plc, which develops and markets oxo-biodegradable technology for plastic carrier bags and other plastic products. The company is willing to provide information and assistance in carrying out the work mentioned above, and wishes to know the name of the consultancy which has been selected by the Commission to perform this work, together with the contact details of the person concerned within that consultancy.

In addition, the company wishes to know whether the specific work on ‘oxo-degradable’ plastic has been or will be subcontracted to other consultants. If so, the company asks to be supplied with the name of the subconsultancy, together with the contact details of the person concerned within that subconsultancy.
