Free debit cards for migrants in Turkey

Question for written answer P-006803-16
to the Commission
Rule 130
Vicky Maeijer (ENF)

Today the Commission submitted a proposal for an Emergency Social Safety Net (ESSN), including an amount of over EUR 348 000 000 to be placed on EU debit cards for a million fortune-seekers in Turkey.

1. Can the Commission explain what it is thinking of, putting hundreds of millions of euros of our taxpayers’ money on debit cards and then distributing them to a million migrants in Turkey, while hard-working Dutch people get nothing all for free but just have to make sacrifices?

2. Is the Commission aware that there is a large risk of this free money being used by potential terrorists to fund jihad and attacks within Europe, and that this wretched plan should therefore be withdrawn immediately?

3. Does the Commission agree with the PVV that this madness proves once again that the Netherlands are better off without the EU and that ‘Nexit’ should happen sooner rather than later?
