Question for written answer P-002486-17
to the Commission
Rule 130
Marco Affronte (Verts/ALE)

On 10.03.17, the Italian Government adopted the draft legislative decree to implement Directive 2014/52/EU amending Directive 2011/92/EU on the assessment of the effects of certain public and private projects on the environment and on 16.03.17 forwarded it to the Presidency. However, in the opinion of many environmental groups and the author of this question, the decree neither respects nor properly transposes the EU Directive in question into national law and constitutes a step backwards in terms of environmental protection.

In view of the above, will the Commission give its opinion on this act[1], specifying whether it is satisfied that it properly transposes and implements Directive 2014/52/EU? If not, why not and what are the consequences that Italy could face were the legislative decree to be ratified?
