to the Commission
Rule 130
Esther de Lange (PPE)

1. Is there currently a genuine risk of blackouts of electricity grids and/or other critical infrastructure in the European Union due to large-scale cyber attacks such as WannaCry and those of 27 June 2017 which could harm European households, businesses and industry?[1],[2].2. What action will the Commission take to ensure that electricity grids and other critical infrastructure are immune to threats of this kind, so that the risk of blackouts can be minimised or averted?3. Will the Commission assess the total damage caused by such cyber attacks as WannaCry and those which occurred on 27 June 2017, and can the Commission indicate how much damage is caused by cyber attacks in Europe each year?
