Animal cloning for food purposes

Question for written answer P-006736-17
to the Commission
Rule 130
France Jamet (ENF)

The Commission is asking Parliament to give it a negotiating mandate to launch discussions with Australia and New Zealand.

Given that these two countries authorise animal cloning in the meat and dairy industries, which we do not, we would like to know what view the Commission, and in particular the future ‘negotiator’, takes on this.

What is the Commission’s view on the potential carbon cost of trading agricultural products, such as meat and milk, with these countries in the future?
