Provisions on weekly cabin rest periods

to the Commission
Rule 130
Peter Kouroumbashev (S&D)
The Commission has proposed an ambiguous text amending Regulation (EU) 165/2014[1]. On the one hand, it specifies that drivers need to spend their regular weekly rest periods outside the cabin, in adequate accommodation with appropriate sleeping and sanitary facilities. On the other hand, it includes a provision allowing drivers to take two consecutive weekly rest periods within a four-week period, in the cabin of the vehicle. Can the Commission specify if there is a general ban on sleeping in the cabin for the regular weekly rest or if there is an exemption foreseen?
