– Before the vote on the legislative resolution:

  Sharon Bowles, on behalf of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs. – Madam President, on behalf of the committee, I would like to request the adjournment of the final vote, under Rule 57(2).

As you know, this was the view of the committee expressed on Tuesday, and we think that we can now proceed to have further discussions with the Council with a view to achieving a satisfactory outcome.

I therefore ask for the adjournment in order that we can conclude this or leave the door open to concluding it, with a first-reading agreement in July.

  Martin Schulz, im Namen der S&D-Fraktion. – Frau Präsidentin! Wir haben als Sozialdemokratische Fraktion diesem Antrag bereits im Ausschuss nicht zugestimmt. Wir waren der Meinung – das zeigt übrigens auch die überwältigende Zustimmung zu diesem Bericht –, dass dieser Bericht reif ist, jetzt zur Abstimmung gestellt zu werden. Wir kennen die Argumente – und deshalb nehme ich auch meine Stellungnahme zu den Anträgen auf Verschiebung schon vorweg, die ja bei den anderen Teilen dieses Pakets noch folgen werden –, die vorgetragen worden sind, warum jetzt noch einmal mit dem Rat verhandelt werden sollte. Das kann man so sehen, dass insbesondere die Bundesregierung und die französische Regierung sich in zwei entscheidenden Punkten noch einmal bewegen sollen. Wir wissen aber aus dem Rat, dass das nicht der Fall sein wird. Deshalb ist für uns eine Frage von entscheidender Bedeutung: Was gedenken die Fraktionen, die diesen Antrag unterstützen, zu tun, wenn sich im Rat keine Veränderung in Richtung unserer Beschlüsse ergibt? Stimmen sie dann gegen diese Pakete, oder stimmen sie dem zu? Das ist für uns eine wichtige Frage.

  Corien Wortmann-Kool (PPE). - Madam President, I would like to underline what Mrs Bowles has said: we are hoping to find a final agreement on the report before our plenary session in July.

Right from the beginning, we have taken the position as a Parliament – including the Socialist Group – that we treat this as a package. So let us treat this as a package and now support Mrs Bowles’ proposal to postpone the vote to July.
