Véronique De Keyser (S&D). (FR) Mr President, this is more or less a technical amendment, as there was an error in the text. We thought that Jafar Panahi was still in prison. We have therefore amended the text slightly. He is appealing his sentence, but is free. The paragraph now reads:

‘Whereas Nasrin Sotoudeh is serving a jail sentence for her work to highlight human rights abuses in Iran and has embarked on a hunger strike after being refused family visits; whereas Jafar Panahi is appealing a six-year jail sentence, a 20-year ban on film-making and a travel ban imposed on him’.
