Branislav Škripek (ECR ). – Madam President, the withdrawal of US forces from Syria will have a serious impact on religious and ethnic minorities in the country. Turkey3s aggressive foreign policy surprises no one. Their politicians are verbally molesting and threatening their neighbours every day. We have witnessed a Turkish invasion on the southern border and we will see it again. 100 000 Christians and other minorities are on a deadly march from Turkish-led jihadists, who are waiting until US troops have left the country. Together with the Chaldeans-Syriacs-Assyrians Friendship Group, we call on the US administration to slow down the departure of US forces until the security of the Christians and all other people has been secured.

As a member of the Chaldeans-Syriacs-Assyrians Friendship Group, I appeal to NATO member states to encourage their Turkish partner not to invade the region and carry out violations against religious and ethnic minorities in north-east Syria. Moreover, a no-fly zone for north-east Syria must be established in order to let local militias, such as the Syriac Military Council, defend themselves against Turkish aggression.
