The European Parliament,

–       having regard to Rule 120 of its Rules of Procedure,

B.     whereas innovative new technologies are available which can prevent some kinds of collisions, such as for instance the collision mitigation braking system which automatically applies the vehicleʼs brakes if the latter comes too close to an object;

C.     whereas robust measures need to be implemented without delay to achieve the EUʼs goal of halving the total number of road deaths by 2020;

1.      Calls on the Commission to draw up a proposal in this respect.
