Parliamentary questions
17 July 2007
ORAL QUESTION for Question Time at the part-session in September I 2007 pursuant to Rule 109 of the Rules of Procedure by Stavros Arnaoutakis to the Commission

Subject: 'Youth in Action programme 2007-2013'

One of the objectives of the Commission's 'Youth in Action programme 2007-2013' is to provide operating grants to non-governmental youth organisations active at European level which seek to increase the participation of young people in public life and society and develop cooperation activities (Action 4.1). However, there are many youth organisations competing to receive these grants which amount to a maximum of only EUR 35 000 annually. Many youth NGOs which are eligible do not receive any significant support.

Does the Commission intend to increase the available resources for these operating grants? How will it ensure that the organisations which receive the grants meet the necessary criteria? How does it intend to support youth NGOs in the regions which really need them?
