In its communication of 23 February 2009 entitled ‘A Community approach on the prevention of natural and man made disasters’ (COM(2009)0082), the Commission undertook to carry out a study on current practices of hazard and risk mapping in the Member States. On this basis, Community guidelines for hazard and risk mapping would be developed, focusing on disasters with potential cross-border impacts (e.g. floods or accidental release of chemicals and radio-nuclear agents), exceptional events (major storms) and large-scale disasters (earthquakes), inter alia. It also referred to the possibility of developing a specific initiative on forest fires.
Can the Commission answer the following questions:
1.
Has this study now been made? When does the Commission expect it to be completed?
2.
Does the Commission already have the abovementioned guidelines?
3.
What specific initiative on forest fires has been developed?
