How does the Commission justify the power now being exercised by itself and MEPs over the management and regulation of the City of London?
Is it not the case that nationals from EU Member States with little or no experience of national or international financial markets, and no significant presence in them, are now taking it upon themselves to decide what the City of London can and cannot do?
Does the Commission not understand the City of London´s role in world markets and that it is a leading economic and commercial asset in Great Britain?
Is the Commission not trying to exploit the current turmoil in world financial markets as a beneficial crisis which, it hopes, will facilitate further oversight and ultimate control of the City?
How does the Commission attempt to justify abolishing the UK veto over control of its vital economic and commercial interests in global financial and banking markets?
Is one of the purposes of these activities to undermine and extirpate the UK as a sovereign nation by eroding one of its most powerful global trading enterprises? If not, what is the true purpose?
