E-009389/2011
Question for written answer
to the Commission
Rule 117
Theodoros Skylakakis (ALDE)

Subject: Competition in the Greek electricity market
 Answer(s)

Further to the Commission's answer to Question E‑007978/2011 and given that two years have now elapsed since Commission Decision C(2009) 6244 became binding in Greece, does the Commission consider that it has succeeded in its task of ensuring competition and by extension safeguarding the interests of European consumers?

In its answer, the Commission also stated that… ‘in January 2011, the Commission launched a market test of those new proposed measures and is currently discussing them with the Greek Government.’ What is the planned timetable for the completion of discussions with the Greek Government aimed at ensuring that henceforth there is basic competition in the electricity sector in Greece?
