 Subject: Romanian boycott of Dutch vegetables
 Answer(s) 

1. Is the Commission aware of the statements made to Romanian journalists by President Bašescu last Sunday to the effect that he would not buy any Dutch vegetables?

2. Does the Commission consider this attitude on the part of the President of Romania to be appropriate in the context of the internal market of the European Union?

3. If not, what measures will the Commission take to prevent distortion of the internal market by this attitude on the part of the President of Romania?

4. Following the embargo on Dutch tulips at the Romanian border in September, this is the second occasion on which Romania has proposed linking imports of Dutch products to the political attitude of the Netherlands towards the Schengen area. What measures will the Commission take to prevent this in future?
