Parliamentary questions
25 March 2015
E-004764-15
Question for written answer
to the Commission
Rule 130
Gilles Lebreton (NI)

 Subject:  The problem of summertime
 Answer(s)

On Tuesday, 24 March 2015, the Committee on Legal Affairs heard five experts who considered that the changeover to summertime has saved no energy, led to no improvement in road safety, but has upset biorhythms to an extent which results in a 1% loss of GDP.

1. Since this is so, and as part of the REFIT programme, does the Commission plan to propose to repeal Directive 2000/84/EC, of 19 January 2001, on summer-time arrangements?
