At the end of 2017, MEPs, concerned about a potential health risk, clashed with the Commission over the use of phosphate additives in frozen meat.

The Commission’s proposal to permit phosphate additives in frozen meat for making kebabs sparked alarm among MEPs about the risk of cardiovascular disease.

How does the Commission intend to manage the potential risks for consumers from exposure to these substances in food?

Does the Commission intend to impose regulatory restrictions, in the interests of public health, on products that represent such a risk?
