E-001449-18
Question for written answer
to the Commission
Rule 130
Jan Zahradil (ECR)

 Subject:  Distortion of the market

In the past, many Member States have complained about the use of hidden state aid by some airline companies from non-EU countries, particularly in the Persian Gulf and Turkey. The Commission wanted to analyse this situation and negotiate with the countries concerned.

In view of the fact that both public and hidden aid distort the market, does the Commission have a view on whether the aviation market has been distorted through public or hidden subsidies for carriers in non-EU countries?

How does the Commission plan to address this situation to ensure that the aviation market in the EU is fair and European air carriers are not harmed?
