Question for written answer
to the Commission
Rule 130
Sergio Gaetano Cofferati (S&D)

Subject:  Conditions for consumers in the mobile telephony field
 Answer(s)

Consideration needs to be given to competition rules in force in the European Union, to the ever bigger role some producers have on the European mobile telephony market, and the necessity of ensuring rights are protected and conditions for consumers in the single market are improved.

Does the Commission believe that fitting mobile devices with predefined browsers that cannot be modified is compatible with EU competition rules?

What action has it taken or will it take to ensure that accessories for mobile telephony devices can be used on different devices, without any advantages or differences, thereby benefiting consumers and competition?

What rules will it adopt to ensure that battery chargers for mobile telephony devices are standardised and can be used by consumers on different devices irrespective of make or model?
