Ramon Tremosa i Balcells (ALDE)

According to a recent Commission report on the application of European Union law[1] in EU Member States, Spain was the country that failed to comply with the highest number of EC laws in 2016 with a total of 46 new infringement cases opened, the highest figure across all EU Member States.

Spain also tops the overall ranking for infringement cases opened by the Commission with a total of 91 cases. The Commission opened 986 infringement cases in total against Member States in 2016 alone.

According to the aforementioned Commission document, an effective application of EC law is essential to benefit from EU policies in the public sector and in business.

1. Will the Commission publish a complete list of Spain’s 91 infringement cases for incorrect transposition or bad application of EC laws?2. Can the Commission quantify the economic impact suffered by Spain from failing to apply these laws?3. Can the Commission quantify the economic impact suffered by EU Member States collectively from bad application of EU legislation?
