Today, the President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani welcomed the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron in Strasbourg. The meeting took place in the framework of the initiative promoted by President Tajani, inviting EU Heads of State and Government to debate the future of Europe in plenary. President Macron’s participation follows that of the Prime Ministers of Ireland, Croatia and Portugal. (Read more)

Speech by the President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, at the European Council meeting 
For too long, our citizens have been waiting for answers to the problem of how to manage migration. Thus far, only partial answers have been forthcoming. Let us take Italy as an example. What people have been told about Europe is this: ‘the EU countries are closing their borders, they are digging their heels in over the relocation of just a few thousand asylum seekers, and they are quite happy to leave us to deal with all the refugees.’ This narrative influenced the outcome of the election. Statement by European Parliament President, Antonio Tajani, following the publication of the Addendum by the ECB's Banking Supervision on non-performing loans 
“We have begun scrutiny of the newest Addendum on non-performing loans published today by the European Central Bank Banking Supervision. The European Parliament will assess whether it is in line with its legislative prerogatives. A first read of the Addendum appears to show that the Banking Supervision has taken into account the concerns expressed by the European Parliament, making the non-binding nature of the Addendum and its application on a case-by-case basis more clear.
