Statement of the President of the European Parliament on the decision of the General Court of the European Union annulling the decision of the Bureau of the European Parliament to impose penalties on MEP Korwin-Mikke
I always respect court decisions. I find however the decision on MEP Korwin-Mikke incomprehensible. The values that inspire our civil coexistence are not debatable.
I will never stop defending equality between women and men. Fundamental rights cannot be called into question. It was, and is, only right and proper to punish those who consider women to be inferior. There is no judgment that can make me step back from defending the values enshrined in the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union. I owe it to all the women who, at the cost of enormous sacrifices, have conquered rights over centuries, and who, despite this, are still victims of discrimination, abuse and violence in all the Member States of the Union.
