Schulz on Greek elections: aim is coalition respecting EU commitments
Following the general elections in Greece, European Parliament President Martin Schulz said:
"The result of the general elections in Greece needs to be calmly analysed to find out what is feasible. The outcome of the vote does not merit any overreaction.
The aim of negotiations in Greece should be to form a coalition that would stick to Greece's commitment to the European Union.
The situation in Greece and other countries shows the need for the EU to adopt a comprehensive package to stimulate economic growth and create jobs. I expect EU leaders to agree on such a programme at their meeting in June."
I plan to visit Athens very soon to continue my discussions with all democratic and constructive political forces."
