President Schulz opened the session by calling on the kidnappers of Syrian human rights lawyer Razan Zaitouneh, her husband and two other peaceful activists for a free Syria, to release them immediately. Ms Zaitouneh, who won the European Parliament’s 2011 Sakharov Prize for freedom of thought, was abducted in Damascus on 9 December 2013.
