Proposal for a Directive on Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing: Initial Appraisal of the European Commission's Impact Assessment

This note seeks to provide an initial analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the European Commission's Impact Assessment accompanying the following proposals: Commission Proposal for a Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on the prevention of the use of the financial system for the purpose of money laundering and terrorist financing and for a proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on information accompanying transfer of funds (COM (2013) 44 and COM (2013) 45).
