EU-India: removing trade hurdles

The EU is India's major trading partner, while India is the EU's eighth most important. Negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) were launched in June 2007 as part of the Global Europe Strategy, which outlined the need for comprehensive FTAs with Asian countries. India and the European Union are expected to sign the agreement by the end of 2011.
