El Parlamento Europeo: relaciones con los Parlamentos nacionales
El avance de la integración europea ha implicado la modificación del papel de los Parlamentos nacionales. Se han creado diversos instrumentos de cooperación entre el Parlamento Europeo y los Parlamentos nacionales con el objetivo de garantizar un control democrático efectivo de la legislación europea a todos los niveles. Las disposiciones introducidas por el Tratado de Lisboa han reforzado esta tendencia.
El principio de subsidiariedad
En el marco de las competencias no exclusivas de la Unión, el principio de subsidiariedad, consagrado en el Tratado de la Unión Europea, define las condiciones en las que la Unión tiene prioridad de acción con respecto a los Estados miembros.
What has the European Union done in the field of migration since 2014?
In response to the migration challenge, on 13 May 2015 the European Commission presented the European Agenda on Migration, with the aim of setting out a comprehensive approach for improving the management of migration in all its aspects. Several implementation packages under the Agenda have already been adopted and the measures therein are starting to be deployed; legislative proposals have also been made and are currently being discussed in Parliament and Council.

La cooperación judicial en materia penal se basa en el principio de reconocimiento mutuo de las sentencias y resoluciones judiciales e incluye medidas para armonizar las leyes de los Estados miembros en diversos ámbitos. El Tratado de Lisboa ha proporcionado una base más sólida para el desarrollo de un espacio de justicia penal, a la vez que ha otorgado nuevas competencias al Parlamento Europeo.
