This document was requested by the Fisheries Committee for the Delegation to Tromsø, Trondheim and other regions of Norway (from 28 to 31 May 2008). The visit focuses on fisheries management systems, discards policy, the conservation of ecosystems, monitoring, control and surveillance of fishing activities and marine research. Aquaculture and trade issues are also addressed herein.

This document describes the fisheries in Ireland for the Delegation of the Committee on Fisheries to Galway and Cork. The visit will focus on the importance of marine research for the fishing industry and the survival of the coastal zones.
