Tá an cuspóir sin le gnóthú trí thacaíocht ón gComhphobal do na Ballstáit agus tríd an gcomhar a chothú. Is leis na Ballstáit i gcónaí a luíonn an phríomhfhreagracht as cosaint sláinte agus, go háirithe, as córais chúram sláinte. Tá ról tábhachtach ag AE, áfach, maidir le feabhas a chur ar shláinte phoiblí, maidir le galair a chosc agus a bhainistiú, maidir le foinsí contúirte do shláinte an duine a mhaolú agus maidir le comhchuibhiú a dhéanamh ar straitéisí sláinte idir na Ballstáit. Chuir an tAontas beartas cuimsitheach chun feidhme go rathúil trína Straitéis Sláinte dar teideal ‘Sláinte i leith Fáis’ agus trí chlár gníomhaíochta na straitéise sin (2014-2020), chomh maith lena dhéanamh trí mholl de reachtaíocht thánaisteach. Maidir leis an leagan amach institiúideach atá ann faoi láthair chun tacú le cur chun feidhme, áirítear ann Ard-Stiúrthóireacht um Shláinte agus Sábháilteacht Bia an Choimisiúin (AS SANTE), chomh maith le gníomhaireachtaí speisialaithe, go sonrach an Lárionad Eorpach um Ghalair a Chosc agus a Rialú (ECDC) agus an Ghníomhaireacht Leigheasra Eorpach (EMA).

This compilation of briefings presents the most salient points and essential commitments made by the commissioners-designate during the hearings held in September/October 2014 before the parliamentary committees. These commitments concern the main on-going legislative procedures, the preparation of future legislative proposals as well as the scrutiny of the implementation of existing legislation. They also touch upon the crucial issue of inter-institutional cooperation.

Disease mongering is the promotion of pseudo-diseases by the pharmaceutical industry aiming at economic benefit. Medical equipment manufacturers, insurance companies, doctors or patient groups may also use it for monetary gain or influence. It has increased in parallel with society's 'medicalisation' and the growth of the pharmaceutical complex. Due to massive investments in marketing and lobbying, ample use of internet and media, and the emergence of new markets, it is becoming a matter of concern ...

The inclusion of Health in All Policies is now enshrined in the Lisbon Treaty (Art. 168).
