Two years until the 2019 European elections: Special Eurobarometer of the European Parliament

This Special Eurobarometer survey, conducted for the European Parliament at the mid-point of the 2014-2019 parliamentary term, focuses on Europeans’ attitudes two years before the European elections of May/June 2019. The fieldwork for this Eurobarometer survey of the European Parliament was carried out between 18 and 27 March 2017. The survey was conducted by Kantar Public through face-to-face meetings with 27 901 EU citizens in the 28 Member States.

Major changes in European public opinion regarding the EU

This exploratory study on major changes in European public opinion (updated in November 2016) was carried out on the basis of the Eurobaroeter surveys carried out between 1973 and 2016. The following aspects were studied: changes in European public opinion regarding the European Union and its institutions; democracy in the European Union; the economy of the European Union; the lives of Europeans; immigration.

This exploratory study on major changes in European public opinion (updated in November 2016) was carried out on the basis of the Eurobaroeter surveys carried out between 1973 and 2016. The following aspects were studied: changes in European public opinion regarding the European Union and its institutions; democracy in the European Union; the economy of the European Union; the lives of Europeans; immigration.

Parlemeter 2016 - Analytisch overzicht

De Parlemeter 2016 van het Europees Parlement (EP/EB 86.1) werd gehouden in de 28 Lidstaten van de Europese Unie, van 24 september tot 3 oktober 2016, door Kantar Public (voorheen TNS opinion). De enquête is gewijd aan de perceptie van Europeanen van het Europees Parlement, het beeld en de rol ervan en hoeveel ze weten over het instituut. De enquête presenteert eveneens de belangrijkste vragen over EU-lidmaatschap, identiteit, burgerschap, prioritaire beleidsmaatregelen en waarden.

De Parlemeter 2016 van het Europees Parlement (EP/EB 86.1) werd gehouden in de 28 Lidstaten van de Europese Unie, van 24 september tot 3 oktober 2016, door Kantar Public (voorheen TNS opinion). De enquête is gewijd aan de perceptie van Europeanen van het Europees Parlement, het beeld en de rol ervan en hoeveel ze weten over het instituut. This document provides a third update of the Review of European and National Elections, published in November 2014 by the Public Opinion Monitoring Unit of DG Communication. The Review was dedicated to the results of the European elections of May 2014 and to the history of 35 years of direct elections to the European Parliament since 1979, as well as to the different national elections. This latest edition addresses the changes in the European Parliament since the second update, published in February 2016. The reader will also find the results of the elections held in Member States until July 2016: four legislative elections (ES, IE, CY, and SK) and one direct presidential election (AT).

Europeans in 2016: Socio-demographic focus on their expectations

The Special Eurobarometer of the European Parliament EP EB85.1 was conducted in the 28 Member States of the European Union, from 9 to 18 April 2016, by TNS opinion. This socio-demographic focus study aims to present a national socio-demographic breakdown for some of the key findings of the survey: the fact that what brings the citizens of the different EU Member States together is more important than what separates them, and the expectations Europeans have regarding the EU’s action.

The Special Eurobarometer of the European Parliament EP EB85.1 was conducted in the 28 Member States of the European Union, from 9 to 18 April 2016, by TNS opinion. 2015 Parlemeter: Main findings on migration

The 2015 Parlemeter surveyed more than 28 000 Europeans in autumn last year. The results show a majority of Europeans are in favour of more integration in the area of migration, however there are marked variations among Member States in the level of support for common asylum policies. An increasing number of Europeans believe that immigration is a major challenge for the future of the EU. The 2015 Parlemeter surveyed more than 28 000 Europeans in autumn last year. The results show a majority of Europeans are in favour of more integration in the area of migration, however there are marked variations among Member States in the level of support for common asylum policies. An increasing number of Europeans believe that immigration is a major challenge for the future of the EU. Some 68% of respondents say they are for 'a common European policy on migration', a 5-point fall compared to spring 2015. In all, 78% of Europeans support better distribution of asylum-seekers amongst EU Member States, of which 75% think this should be decided upon in the form of 'binding quotas'. Here, there are significant divergences between Member States, with 97% of Germans in favour of better distribution compared to 31% of Slovakians, for example.
