In deze studie wordt bekeken wat de omvang en aard is van het probleem van voortijdig schoolverlaten in de EU. Er wordt uitgebreid onderzocht hoe landen dit probleem aanpakken en wat de kenmerken zijn van effectief beleid. Op grond hiervan wordt voor partijen op Europees en nationaal niveau een reeks aanbevelingen voor de toekomst gedaan. De studie is gebaseerd op een diepgaand onderzoek in negen lidstaten en een analyse van internationale en nationale literatuur.

This study aims to examine the implementation of the Beijing Platform by the European institutions. It has been drawn up within the framework of the European Parliament’s 2000 research programme, at the request of Parliament’s Committee on Women’s Rights and Equal Opportunities following the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing and its follow-up in New York in June 2000 (Beijing +5).
