Europol's new Headquarters on Eisenhowerlaan in The Hague

The fifth meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Scrutiny Group on Europol (JPSG) will take place on 23-24 September 2019 in Brussels. The JPSG brings together Members of national parliaments and the European Parliament to fulfill the scrutiny and oversight on the activities of Europol including on fundamental rights. The JPSG meets at least twice a year. It is Co-Chaired by the European Parliament and the country holding the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The agenda includes interventions by Europol Executive Director, Ms Catherine De Bolle, Minister of Interior of Finland, Ms Maria Ohisalo, Chairperson of the Europol Management Board, Mr Andrei Linta, or assistant EDPS, Mr Wojciech Wiewiórowski. There are as well high profile discussions on topics such as the findings by the Europol Cooperation Board, the Europol's information management priorities in 2019, review of the Rules of Procedure, as well as a keynote speech by the Commissioner for the Security Union, Sir Julian KING.

On 24 September 2019, the Policy Department for Structural and Cohesion Policies will present a new study on "EU fisheries policy - last developments and future challenges" in the PECH Committee.

This study examines the latest developments of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) in the fields of fisheries management, Common Market Organisation and its external dimension. It also discusses the potential challenges that the EU fisheries policy might be facing in the near future. The present research contains ten case studies and concludes with possible solutions and recommendations to address some of the sector's forthcoming challenges.

The European University Institute (EUI) cordially invites you to participate in a special event on "The State of the Union after the Juncker Years", organised in cooperation with SciencesPo and the College of Europe. The conference offers an early opportunity to review and assess the EU inter-institutional dynamics during the Juncker years (2014-2019).

It will be opened by the President of the EUI, Prof. Renaud Dehousse. Among the distinguished speakers: Jim Cloos, Deputy Director for General and Institutional Policy in the General Secretariat of the EU Council of Ministers and Maria José Martínez Iglesias, Director for Legislative Affairs in the Legal Service of the European Parliament. The concluding keynote speech will be delivered by the Secretary General of the European Parliament, Klaus Welle.

The presentations will be based on two major surveys conducted as part of 'The European Commission: Where now? Where next?' project, aimed at identifying legislative trends and examining the outgoing Commission in historical perspective. The project is headquartered at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies at the EUI.

Ateliere
