Europe Day - Edinburgh, 8th May 2015
Hundreds of citizens joined us on Castle Street on Friday 8th May to celebrate Europe Day and learn more about the activities of the European Institutions in Scotland.
Europe Day every year celebrates peace and unity in Europe. The date marks the anniversary of the historical 'Schuman declaration'. At a speech in Paris in 1950, Robert Schuman set out his idea for a new form of political cooperation in Europe, which would make war between Europe’s nations unthinkable.
This year the European Parliament Information Office in Edinburgh joined the European Commission and representatives from Member States across Europe to give the opportunity for members of the public to find out more about our diverse cultures and the range of activities that the EU is involved in in Scotland.
