Our Films: Our Europe Final, Scottish Parliament - 21st March 2016
On 21st March 2016, the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh played host to an exclusive premiere and awards ceremony that showcased the film-making talents of young people from across Scotland. This was the final stage of the Our Films, Our Europe project run by the Scottish Educational Trust (SEET) and supported by the European Parliament. This exciting project has seen teams of S3-S6 pupils from around the country make short films, with guidance from media professionals, based on how being a European citizen affects them as young people. These remarkable films were screened for the very first time in front of a packed audience before a series of awards were handed out to recognise achievement in film-making, acting, foreign language skills, editing and innovation.
This fantastic event was a suitable celebration of the months of hard work that these students have put in. All of the films displayed a real flair for film-making and packed in lots of useful information about the impact that the European Union has on the lives of young Scots. Special congratulations go to the team from Saint Roch's Secondary School in Glasgow, who incorporated rap music into their video and were voted winners of the prestigious peer choice award.
